Counter agent forced my wife to take the car insurance at $9.00 per day because she didn't have an auto insurance card with her. Our credit card covers rentals and we have auto insurance. She could have easily gotten him the insurance policy number. He insisted that she take the insurance and said the state of NY requires an insurance card at time of rental. Liar! This is what happens when employees have to meet quotas for upselling services. I asked for a refund on the phone and the customer service rep at Hertz said that once the contract is signed there's nothing they can do about it. I don't believe that for a minute.
The hours listed here for Niagara Falls airport Hertz said it was open until midnight, but when I arrived at 6:05 pm by taxi from Buffalo airport to get a lower rental car rate here, it had closed at 6:00 pm. I ended up taking the taxi right back to Buffalo airport to get a car there. Cost me $140 for the round trip taxi ride. I've submitted a correction on the hours. This was a Wednesday night, so it might be open later on weekends.
37 people on my flight rented cars here, they had 3 cars availble, had to wait an hour while they brought cars in. Our car smelled like smoke and wasn't cleaned there was dark hair all over the seats, food crumbs just gross.
